Fonterra has rolled out the Milk for Schools programme out across New Zealand. The rollout started towards the end of Term 1, 2013 in Southland and continued to move through the country during the year, with all schools who wish to take part on board by the end of Term 1, 2014.
In Term 3, 2013, Arakura was confirmed as a school that would recieve free Milk for School. Milk monitors, parent helpers, and training was put in place, and all children recieved their first free drinks in Week 7.
Through the Fonterra Milk for Schools programme, Fonterra will provide:
- All Year 1 – 6 children a free serving of Anchor Lite UHT milk every school day
- Free lease of a Fonterra fridge to chill the milk
- Free delivery of the milk, and collection of used packaging for recycling
- A free recycling kit consisting of recycling bins and bags
